What are Quarantine Digests?

Everyone gets a lot of spam email, there's no way around it. ProofPoint will block much of this email, but it can sometimes erroneously block non-spam email. Rather than logging into your ProofPoint account and constantly refreshing the page to see what came in and what was blocked, you can receive a daily (or twice daily, or thrice-daily...) digest email from ProofPoint with a list of quarantined messages.

How do I access my digest settings?

Log in to ProofPoint and then click Digests on the left-hand side menu:

What do all these settings mean?

While we generally advise leaving the default settings in place, here are a few commonly used ones and what they effect:

Enable digests for user

If this is set to Yes, you get digest emails. You can set it to No if you'd prefer not to receiveeve these messages.

Only include messages quarantined since the last Quarantine Digest was sent

You will almost always want this to be Yes. This makes it so that each digest only shows newly quarantined emails since you received your last digest. If set to No, you will see the same emails in each digest until they exceed the (default) 30-day retention period.

Quarantine Digest delivery start time

This is the time you receive your first digest each day, in 24-hour format. It's common to set this for just before or after you start work for the day.

Interval between digest checks

The frequency with which you receive digest emails each day after the first. If you only want one/day, set this to 24 h. If you'd like more, you can dial it down accordingly.

Retention period

We advise leaving this at 30 days.

Additional inclusion settings

We advise leaving these with their default options- for most users, these will be sufficient.

Sending a spot digest

If you want, you can send yourself a new digest email by clicking SEND DIGEST at the bottom of the screen.
