What is the Emergency Inbox?

In the event your email server goes down or otherwise becomes unavailable, ProofPoint will hold on to your email in the Emergency Inbox. From here, you can view and reply to messages until your mail server's functionality is restored.


Accessing the Emergency Inbox

After logging in to ProofPoint, you can get to the Emergency Inbox by clicking Emergency Inbox in the sidebar:



Will I ever realistically need the Emergency Inbox?

It's extremely unlikely- modern cloud email servers like Microsoft 365 have extremely high uptime guarantees. This feature is mostly for environments with on-premise email servers that do not have failover/redundancy. If you log in to Microsoft 365/Exchange Online for your email, you may never need to use this feature. But in a pinch, it's there!
